Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Solicitor General
Philip Bryden was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Solicitor General, Justice and Solicitor General of Alberta in 2015. He was Dean of Law at the University of Alberta from 2009-2014 and Dean of Law at the University of New Brunswick from 2004-2009. He was a member of the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law from 1985-2004, and practised law part-time as Associate Counsel to Heenan Blaikie in Vancouver from 1993-2004.
Over the course of his career he has served on the boards of a number of voluntary organizations, including the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice, the Council of Canadian Administrative Tribunals, the Council of Canadian Law Deans, the Alberta Law Reform Institute and the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association.
