Alberta addresses crime reduction through a balanced approach based on prevention, intervention and enforcement with a firm commitment to partnerships.
Through a variety of strategies and initiatives, we work to increase the safety of our communities and:
- increase personal and public safety
- prevent or reduce family violence and bullying
The two arms of Justice and Solicitor General both work to address crime prevention and enforcement.
The Justice arm of the ministry is working with community partners to help them address crime and deal with issues like gangs and marijuana grow-ops. Through initiatives like Grow op Free Alberta, the Integrated Justice Services Project and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), we are taking a hands-on approach to reducing crime throughout the province.
