Alberta's Office of the Public Trustee protects the financial interests of vulnerable Albertans by administering the estates of dependent adults, deceased persons and minors when there is no one else to act.

The existing legislation for trusteeship and guardianship is in the Dependent Adults Act. This Act will be replaced by the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act which will come into force on October 30, 2009.

The Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act can be found on the Alberta Queen's Printer website.
